Admit that you have sinned.  Accept that you are in need of His forgiveness and love.
1 John 1:9  "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from every wrong."
Sin - Anything that separates you from God's purpose and God's presence in your life.

Believe that Jesus is God's son and died to pay for your sins.
Romans 10:9  "If you confess that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."

Commit your life to the Lord and ask Him to be your Savior and Lord.
Revelation 3:30 "Jesus says, Listen! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in."

To understand what it means to be a Christian you must really take a good look at the heart of God. It is God's desire that you and me have personal relationship with Him.  Genesis 1:27 tells us that we where created in the image of God. What that means is we were created to have relationship with God.
You see you and I have a problem, that problem is sin.  Romans 3:23 tells us that we all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 6:23 tells us that because of this sin there is a price that must be paid. That price is death.

Praise the Lord, God has a solution. Even though our sins have cut us off from God (Isaiah 59:2), God loves us so much he gave his only begotten son Jesus, to pay the ultimate price and purchase salvation for everyone who will put their faith and trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him will not perish, but will have an everlasting life.

God has bought and paid for salvation through the death of Jesus Christ on Calvary's cross, it is time now for you to respond by faith and receive God's gift of love and be saved. Ephesians 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--. God's grace is giving to all through Jesus Christ, you can have salvation when you put your faith in Jesus Christ to save you. Romans 10:13 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
If it your hearts desire to follow after Jesus and become a Christian communicate with God and ask Him to save you. Prayer is the method that we have to communicate with God. Below is a sample prayer to help you see what to communicate to God, but understand that salvation is not in a prayer, but in the sincerity of the heart.
Prayer of Commitment:

Dear Lord,
I admit to you that I am a sinner. I believe that you and you alone can forgive me of my sin. Please forgive me of my sin. I turn from my sins, and I receive Jesus into my life as Lord and Savior. Come into my life and save me right now. I commit my life to you the best I know how. Thank you for saving me, In Jesus name I pray, AMEN!
